KINGSBRIDGE ARMORY

DSC_9702
When it comes to the Kingsbridge Armory the needs and interest of ordinary Bronx residents must come first. I will continue to work with the Kingsbridge Armory Redevelopment Alliance in order to ensure that our tax dollars fund programs that will create economic opportunities, youth centers and more schools. Our current City Council Member for this district has been noticeably absent form all public discussion on the question of redevelopment of the Armory. We cannot permit for outsiders to continue to come to our neighborhoods impose their will on us- profiteer from us – highjack our community and political decision-making process. And expect to do so, while we sit idle by and do nothing.

I will work to get our children more recreational, and educational community space.

In the Armory’s nearby vicinity Walton High School, Public School 86 & DeWitt Clinton High school are all 50% over crowded. We have the possibility of creating 2,000 new school seats with this space and the time is now to take action. We also need to ensure that there is a fair community benefits agreement. The Armory should also be redeveloped with Unions jobs.

I will stand up for labor and working class people and say no to big corporations that will take out small businesses. The time is now to take back the Armory.
